Verrettes, also known in Haitian Creole as Vèrèt, is a commune in Haiti’s Artibonite Department. It is located on the left bank of the Artibonite River and is known for farming, trade, rice fields, coffee, citrus, and its role in the lower Artibonite Valley.
Verrettes was established in 1727 and developed as one of the historic agricultural towns of the Artibonite Plain. The commune grew around river-fed farmland and became an important local center for agriculture, markets, and community life.
