Pignon, also known in Haitian Creole as Piyon, is an inland commune in Haiti’s Nord Department. It is located in the Saint-Raphaël Arrondissement in the Upper Central Plateau and is known for its mountain setting, agriculture, markets, and local community life.
Pignon was first settled in 1699 and was once connected to Dondon and Saint-Raphaël before becoming its own municipality in 1924. The commune was named after Guillaume de Pignon, a French merchant and early settler of the area.
