Anse-d’Hainault, also known in Haitian Creole as Ansdeno, is a coastal commune in Haiti’s Grand’Anse Department. It is located at the far western tip of the Tiburon Peninsula and serves as the seat of the Anse-d’Hainault Arrondissement.

History & Heritage

Anse-d’Hainault was settled in 1798 and became a commune in 1817 when its port was opened to foreign trade. Its history is connected to French colonial settlement, coastal trade, Goman’s resistance, the 1843 Revolution, Cacos conflicts, and the banana export boom of the 1940s.
