Liancourt, also known in Haitian Creole as Lyankou, is a commune in Haiti’s Artibonite Department. It is located in the Saint-Marc Arrondissement and sits within one of Haiti’s most fertile agricultural zones
Liancourt was originally a district and communal section of Verrettes. It became its own commune by presidential decree on July 22, 2015, after growth in population and local economic importance.
Life in Liancourt is strongly connected to farming, local markets, Vodou traditions, religion, community organizations, and family life. Agriculture remains central, with crops such as corn, beans, rice, millet, and vegetables.
